1. How do I start sending SMS messages with SMSit Messenger?

Step 1. Download SMSit to your computer
Download SMSit Messenger to your PC, double click on the SMSit Messenger installer.exe file to install the product.

Step 2. Enter Registration Details
Once installed, you will need to register your product before you can login. Click on the "Register" button and complete the details in the registration area to create an account.

Step 3. Login
Enter your login details to login to SMSit Messenger (make sure the "work offline" button is not ticked). Once logged in you will land on the "Send SMS" page.

Step 4. Purchase an SMS Credit Pack
To send SMS messages with SMSit you will need to purchase an SMS credit pack.

The credit pack includes a voucher which activates your credits. Type this code into the "Redeem Voucher" field, and click on the "Redeem" button. Once activated your balance will be topped up with your SMS credits, similiar to recharging a pre-paid mobile phone.

Step 4. Send SMS Messages

Enter the recipient's mobile phone number in the "To:" field. Enter your message details into the "Message" field and press "Send" to deliver your message.

2. How much does each message cost?
Generally 1 SMS credit = 1 SMS message, however in some instances networks will charge 2 or more credits to deliver your SMS. Please view our
International Coverage to find out the credit cost to send to your favourite destination networks. Our message credits are priced according to how many you buy. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. View our SMS pricing here.

3. How do I make a purchase?
Click on the "Buy Credits" button under the "Options" tab. This will open up the SMSit Messenger Website . You will need to login to the website using your SMSit Messenger login details. You will then need to click on the "Purchase" link and then "Buy SMS Credits" in the fold out menu. This will open up a secure purchase window. Choose the custom number of credits, or custom price amount that you would like and then select a payment method either via Credit Card, Wire Transfer, or Direct Deposit.

If paying by credit card, you will then need to fill in your details and submit. First time buyers will be asked to fill out credit card application form and fax it through to us in order to prevent fraudulent transactions.

4. How do I add contacts to my address book?
In order to add a contact you will first need to set up a group in your Address Book by clicking on "New Group" found under the "Addresses" tab. Once having named a group, click on the group name in your address book, and click the "New Contact" button to add a contact. This will open up a page for you to fill your contact's details. Press "OK" to save the information.

If you need to upload contacts from a spreadsheet, then select a group in your address book. Select the "Upload" button, and "Browse" for a CSV file from your PC making sure it is in the correct format . Click "OK" and your spreadsheet imports will automatically be uploaded to your group. Note, the SMSit Messenger address book also allows you to import your contacts direct from MS Outlook.

5. How do I personalize my messages for each recipient?
Under the "SMS" tab, the buttons to the right of the Message field offer opportunity to merge fields from your address book into your messages. For instance using the "First name" field will change your message from Dear #FNAME# to Dear Pete, Dear John, etc. by pulling the relevant contact names from your address book. Using the "Custom" merge field for instance you could personalize an account balance for each recipient which you could easily have imported from a spreadsheet on your PC.

6. How do I change the "From" field so my messages look like they have come from my company?
The "From" field is otherwise known as Sender ID. You can change this by clicking on the "Options" tab. At the bottom left of the page is an "Extra Settings" field where you can fill in a name of your choosing as the Sender ID. Note: Sender ID does not work with all networks.

7. How do I schedule messages to be sent at a later time or date?
Type in your message and choose a recipient under the SMS tab. Then, instead of clicking "Send" choose the "Schedule" button next to it. This will open up a new page for you to select a date and time for your message to be sent.

8. How do I check on my sent messages?
Click on the Outbox tab. Your Outbox keeps a list of all sent messages and their delivery status.

9. Why should I send SMS messages from my computer, when I have a mobile phone?
Firstly, sending an SMS via SMSit is far cheaper than sending an SMS from most phones, saving you money.

The starting price for sending an SMS from SMSit is just 20 cents per SMS, so it outdoes the price of most mobile-to-mobile text messaging offers.

Secondly, sending an SMS from SMSit is easy and fun and you don't have to mess around with typing the message on a small keypad of a mobile phone. It's easy just type away and send.

And its the fastest way to send individual or bulk messages to groups.

10. Can I send message to all Networks?
Yes, we support the sending of SMS to all the major Networks internationally (over 560 networks).

In Australia this includes:

  Optus;
  Vodafone;
  Telstra; and
  Hutchison (Orange and 3)

11. What if I want more that one user on my Account?
Once you have subscribed, your account is treated as the main Administrator Account and from here you can easily add multiple users under your account.

Best of all, you have total control over the amount of SMS each user can send every month and the level of access each user has to the company address book.

12. What if I accidentally send a duplicate SMS message?
Duplicate messages refer to the exact same message to the same mobile number in the space of 15 minutes.

If this happens, the duplicate message is filtered out and not sent. We do this to avoid accidental messages going to the same mobile phone (just in case you accidentally click send "twice").

13. Can I have an SMS solution tailored specifically for my business?
A. Yes. At SMSit we can tailor a solution to suit your existing web site infrastructure. And for basic SMS development, our turnaround time can be as quick as 7 days from placing a bespoke order.  Contact the team at SMSit to find more.
